Encouraging and Supporting the Family

Many of us are going down an educational path our parents and siblings never pursued.  This creates a challenge when we have important questions about the discipleship and education of our children.  All of us who have been home educating for many years have at one time or another been encouraged and inspired by another family who has been "down the road" before us. They were a good example. They were willing to let us bounce some questions off of them or point out some excellent resources or ideas to us. Their experience provided confidence that, with the Lord's help, we could do it too. We considered them mentors.

As part of Foundations, we have instituted a "mentoring" program called "Ebenezer Couples". Ebenezer means "by God's grace we have come thusfar."  Each of these couples humbly walk in the grace of God in their personal lives and their homeschooling journey.  They have seen the fruits of home education and the discipleship of their children and desire to serve as encouragers and resources for our membership. Every family that requests to be in a group during registration will have special access to an Ebenezer. Whether it is a planned event with your group, or a private conversation to request prayer you will have the opportunity to receive wise counsel and see first-hand the faithfulness of God by getting to know your Ebenezers.

These Ebenezer Couples will be happy to answer the big picture questions, provide inspiration by sharing from their own successes and failures, and pass on some wisdom or attitude that guides them. Most of all, these mentor couples want to testify to the grace of God in bringing them thusfar and to walk alongside with us as we all entrust ourselves and our children to our faithful God.
